Power to Change - Endorsement Letter

Dear fellow pastor,

Bill Hybels has said, "The toughest job in North America is pastoring a church!" Today, a pastor must have not only the leadership skills of a CEO, but the ability to coordinate volunteers, address family issues, and understand the unique background of his congregation. Accountable to his wife, his board, and ultimately to God, a pastor must continually juggle the needs of his family with those of the church-remembering all the while, that eternal souls hang in the balance.

In light of such a job description, it seems we could all use some help, especially in the evangelism and outreach department. This is where the Power To Change campaign can help.

This pastor-motivated, church-driven saturation campaign was launched in southern British Columbia and northwest Washington state in February 1999, with over 600 churches cooperating. After much discussion with a number of key pastors and Christian business people, we sensed the time was right to lift up the name of Christ in a fresh new way in the Maritimes. This media saturation effort is designed to come alongside you and your church people as you reach out to the community around you with the good news of God's love. Starting with a strong prayer base, Power To Change will offer training in evangelism, and show participants how to follow up new Christians. We want to present the gospel with a strong personal touch. We are excited to inform you that we will be supporting Power To Change with a six-week media campaign which is coming to the Maritime provinces on March 12th, 2000, and will conclude on Easter Sunday, April 23rd, 2000. This is undoubtedly an exciting opportunity.

Power To Change commercials and advertisements will feature testimonies of well-known Canadian sports personalities, as well as ordinary Canadians who have found the "Power To Change" through Jesus Christ. Television will be the prime media form utilized.Viewers will be able to find more information by dialing a 1-800 telephone number, sending an e-mail message, or visiting the Power To Change Web site. As well, an excellent booklet, including a CD-ROM/audio tape, will be available. Through regional training sessions, volunteers from area churches will be instructed on how to share their faith as a way of life. Long-term discipleship of seekers will be handled by the individual participating churches. Already, many of the major Christian churches of the Maritime provinces have indicated their wholehearted support for this unique, collaborative effort.

Power to Change will raise the awareness of Jesus Christ in your community, and provide a wonderful opportunity to mobilize your people for evangelism. Currently, efforts are underway to solicit the necessary funding for the media campaign. Churches and individuals will be asked to pay for the evangelistic and training tools (booklets and CD-ROMs) used. We are asking your church to pray and get involved. Uniting the churches in evangelism can't help but honour God and bless His church. As Rick Warren has said: A great commitment to the great commandment and the great commission makes a great church! We encourage you and your congregation to get involved in this major event.

Sincerely in Christ,
